Product Spotlight: Inventor, iLogic
Do you have repetitive tasks in your everyday Inventor workflows taking up too much of your time on a regular basis? Are there common designs you create that you would like to be configurable? The built-in functionality of Inventor’s iLogic may be able to help!
What is iLogic?
Inventor iLogic is a way for users to automate common tasks, kind of like using macros in a spreadsheet. It can be used for rules-based designs, generating design variants, and automating tedious or complex tasks. It can make things that take minutes or hours and simplify them down to the push of a button.
Why do you use iLogic?
To simplify operations and tap into the efficiencies of automation, or simply put, to save time.
Do I need to know how to ‘program’ to take advantage of iLogic?
No. It is not necessary to know programming languages or routines in order to take advantage of iLogic. There are pre-built tutorials, forms, wizards and ‘snippets’ within the iLogic system to help you get going. A good grasp of Parameters and iProperties will provide a solid foundation on which to build upon.
What are some examples?
How do I get started?
Define your problems; A good way to start is by examining the common pain points in your daily Inventor routines, workflows, and any items that make you say to yourself, “There has got to be a better way to do this”. There probably is, and iLogic may be able to help! There are tutorials and online resources as well.
How am I going to learn all of this and who is going to help me?
If this all sounds great but you don’t really have time to learn the iLogic system, please reach out to MESA and run your ideas past our automation experts. We have had many successful outcomes from simple routines to complex automations that can help you get over those first few hurdles, or……all of them.
